Hi,

New build PC arrived yesterday.

Purchased X-Plane online (Product key).

Clicked on:....

Download X-Plane installer now....

Download for windows....

What do you want to do with X-planeinstallerwindows.zip(18.5mbs)?

I clicked on 'Open'

This causes a folder under 'Local Disk C drive' to open... In this are 1) Folder named _MACOSX

                                                                                                            2) X-Plane 11 installer (Application) 18,946Kb

I double- click on 2) above and a window opens stating

 "Compressed (Zipped) Folders

This application may depend on other compressed files in this folder, For the application to run properly, it is recommended that you first extract all files.

I clicked on 'Extract all'

New Window>> Select a destination and extract files C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe\TempState\Downloads\X-Plane11InstallerWindows (18)

New window appears>> Folder with the following 2 items

1) MACOSX (File folder)

2) X-Plane 11 installer (Application) 30,252 kb

Clicking on the 'X-Plane installer' , a new window appears (Black window) with the option to either >>

INSTALL A FREE DEMO OF X-PLANE

INSTALL AN X-PLANE PRODUCT PURCHASE

If I click on the 2nd option, I receive the following message>>

BE ADVISED

The file could not be saved. Check that the directory still exists and is not flagged read-only.

C:\Users/User/Appdata/Local/X-Plane_xdd-11.prf

This file may be flagged as read-only.

Change the permission on the file so it's not read-only, or create the folder listed in the file path.

___________________________________________________________

If I choose to click on downloading the free demo …(Option 1) above), the following window appears>>

XPlane 11 End User Licence Agreement, wher I'm given the option to agree to terms of the EULA.

When I click on AGREE and click next , I am presented with a window stating>>>

Finished Web Demo Install... There was a problem installing the X-Plane 11 demo . Please try aghain later or contact tech support. The technical problem was 'Permission denied'. Perhaps you do not have access to a directory or file system.

Any help appreciated.

Thank you.

It sounds like the installer is not able to write to the DRM file. You can check the permissions on the file in the path listed (some folders may be hidden by default) or even delete the file entirely. X-Plane will rewrite it the next time you launch the sim or need it for the installer.

It sounds like you are either missing steps or are not connected to the internet. After you pick the option to install a product purchase, the next screen should ask you for your digital download product key or dvd 1. After that it should try to validate your key, offer a screen to change the name or location of the install folder (we do NOT recommend installing to C: or Program Files), and a screen to change how much scenery is installed. Here are step by step guidelines on installing.

Hi and thanks for the reply.

I contacted the builder of my PC who gave me a few options also, (Saving installer to Desktop etc), None of which were successful .

He then said to 'Right Click' on the installer and 'RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR'.

Lo and behold, Everything worked as expected.

Thank you for your comment though.
