having flown a scenerio using real weather, over the south of France with a overcast  sky between 4,500 feet and 6500 feet, using orthoscenery with autogen and a few other ground improvements, i was getting around 35-40fps below the clouds, i then climbed to fly above the clouds, no land visible and only had 16-18 fps, mystified i then descended  to below the clouds again and straight away had 35fps, how can this be? when above the clouds i tis only painting clouds and sky yet below it is painting everything in 3d virtually, is this a bug?  I would really like to know please

There are a lot of factors that can affect fps. The clouds may have a big impact, and it may matter how much of them are visible on screen.

We do run tightly controlled fps tests on every version to catch performance issues and we have not noticed any in 11.20 or 11.21.

yes I appreciate this but using the same view and the same clouds , so the clouds are being painted from below along with photoscenery  as well as autogen etc and i get 35fps 2 minutes later on top of the same clouds with blue sky only I am getting 16fps, do you want me to send you a video? because it is repeatable so is surely a bug?
