This morning I downloaded the free demo of X-Plane 11 and tried to fly it, but the response to the mouse was so "laggy" that it was unusable. I read the system requirements but really don't know how my system corresponds to the requirements. Here's what my System Information says:

System Type:    x64-based PC
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-7200U CPU @ 2.50GHz, 2701 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)
Installed Physical Memory (RAM):  8.00 GB
Total Physical Memory: 7.87 GB
Available Physical Memory: 4.09 GB
Total Virtual Memory: 9.82 GB
Available Virtual Memory: 5.89 GB

Is that just not sufficient, and would be expected to produce the (non) performance that I found with X-Plane?

Hi mwr,

I am not with Laminar Research; just a flight simmer.

X-Plane 11, more so than X-Plane 10  is resource hungry and that is why Laminar Research has specified minimum and recommended specifications to run the software.

What type of machine are you running/  A laptop or a windows based PC?

The description of your CPU (processor) suggests to me that you are running a Laptop.  It also tells me that your CPU cannot be overclocked to a faster speed as it is designated as a "7200U" series rather than a "7200K" series.  The "K" signifies the CPU can be overclocked.  You have tested the software as suggested in the minimum requirements because you CPU speed is less than the minimum requirements.  The CPU also suggests to me that X-Plane will have some difficulty because it is only 2 core instead of 4 core.  X-Plane only utilises 4 cores even if the CPU has more than 4 cores (overkill)

Do you have a dedicated graphics (GPU) card? If not, running on the motherboard alone will deplete the ability of your machine to run.  If you do have a dedicated GPU then it needs to be at at least a DirectX-11 or Directx-12 card for best benefit.

Hope this helps

Thanks! I see that I didn't say that my computer is an Acer laptop and has an NVIDIA GeForce 940MX graphics card. I don't know how to determine if that is a DirectX-11 or Directx-12 card. In any event, it just doesn't work, probably because of the only-2-core issue.
