If I enable VR then XPlane hangs when closing the application

Question

It's a while (different XP versions) that I'm experiencing some problems with XPlane and VR (Oculus Rift).

If VR is enabled the sim hangs when I try to close the application. The progress bar freeze with the following text "VR is disabled. You can re-enable VR from the VR tab of the settings screen".

I can even just open XPlane without flying at all. When closing it still hangs.

I've just made a fresh install with no add-ons and the problem persists. I've also recently reinstalled windows 10.

Is someone experiencing the same problem?
