The reverse thrust on the default 747-400 only will work, if i use my mouse to move the throttle slightly, then the buttons will work, but once i increase thrust with either my joystick button, or the button on the keyboard (F2) then they just wont respond, until i click the throttle in game again. unless this is a bug, because then i will post it there, what could be causing this? im using a very new joystick (haven't updated the drivers on it) if anyone thinks that that could possibly be the cause

Hi msiawesome,

I am not from Laminar Research; just a flight simmer from downunder.

You need to decide on the process you want to use for throttle control.  You can't have all three.

My assumption is you plan to use your new joystick. A more realistic approach.

All hardware has to be configured within X-Plane.  No other way.  Not through your operating system and particularly not using the software provided with the new joystick.  If you have used the software already you need to perform a complete deletion and start again.  When done put the software on a shelf somewhere away from your "flight simulator". and forget about it.  You have not indicated the brand of your joystick.  If it is a Saitek/Logitech unit then you need to go outside and dig a hole and bury the software and permanently forget about it..  It just does not work with X-Plane although it may work with other shoot-em-up games and flight sim packages.

You need to read the manual which can be found here https://www.x-plane.com/manuals/desktop/  or have a good look at the following video from Michael brown found at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hU_TuALAlJk  When viewing consider the message and not the brand of hardware.  You may need to view it several times to understand the message.

Also consider the following link as well found at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2-PJxkYOSQ

Hope this helps and good luck.

Glenn
