How do i get x-plane flights to operate in real time?

Flights take longer than real time. the clock on the GPS radio moves slower than real time, therefore the flight takes longer.

Check out this article--it may be your frame rate. You can also speed up the simulator by using ctl + t. Increase ground speed by using alt/opt + t.
