is it necessary to be a pilot or a computer engineer to use this sim? Bought xplane 10g about 3 months ago, bought a new laptop( i7 processor, 2.5-3.1ghz, 12g of ram and nvidia930m graphics card) jus to use this sim. Idk what I'm doing wrong, a def noob, noob to comp games as well. Bought about 700$ worth of planes, almost all of the pro boeings and some military planes as well. 757 being my fav. is there a progression? Starting with the 172, and working your way up? Every time I load the 757, can't do anything but utilize the cameras. I've read the manual. Asked for help. Nothing from Austin or Randy, or jimmy, whatev his name is. Nothing. Like I said, never played comp games bc they seem to get bogged down in the details, the minutiae. Been content to use the iPad app, but since the upgrade, somethings def diff, or wrong with it. 10 mins to get to 10k ft? That's wrong.  Referring to 2 challenges, clear weather, nothing to impede a normal ascent. Lol..cept the engines. Ne way, off topic.

I just wanna fly. I don't wanna go back to college. N it seems like goin through a real flight school would be easier than xplane. Might take me 5 or 6 years, then I'd b capable of gettin n a real 757 and pushing those 211s vertical.  N theoretically use the sim. I'd still have to get the computer part though. Back to school I guess. Somebody help! Jus need a push n the right direction. Thx.

Hi,

X-Plane has always required a steep learning curve. However it isn't hard to accomplish. Start from a small aircraft (Cessna 172 and work your way up to an Airliner). There are tons of tutorials online that explain the basics-flaps, trim, VOR's, NDB's, turns, climbs, descents, mixture, and prop controls, etc. I started in FSX and now fly airliners-737's and 777's, etc in XP and FSX too. First learn the basics then work up to program an FMC and SIDS and STARS. I honestly recommend FSX for you because it is simpler to understand and more easier to learn whereas XP is a hands-on experience.

Hope this helps,

Rishi

Big help! Thx rishi. That's all I wanted to know, I mean the manual kinda hints at that, starting with the 172, but doesn't specify.  Like I said, I thought it was basically a more detailed version of the iPad app. N the fact I've never played a comp game..ever, doesn't help. Ne way, to repeat the op, I bought xplane g, then I went plane crazy. Thought I could just jump right n the 757 n use it the same way I would in the mobile version.  I've checked YouTube of course, found a couple by Ramzeez , I think that's his name, but the vids r usually jus as complicated as tryin to do it on your own.

I mean, flaps, throttle and speed brakes r really all u need to utilize the mobile version, so I figured u could do the same, with the 'quick flight' option. Wrong!

Still tryin to figure out vor and ils, I understand them, and funny enough, I've done better on the ils challenges than the vor, and was always led to believe ils was way more complicated than vor. 'Cross country' challenge has got me stumped, can't score above an 80 on it.  Ne way, thx for your answer, it was a big help. What tutoria;s do u recommend? I've got 'virtual pilot 3D' too, but it's basically the same probs as xplane.

So, if u can recommend some sites or tutorials, I have looked and looked, maybe I missed some that u might know of.

Thx rishi!
