Can I use X-plane 10 Steam Edition with Mission Planner (Ardupilot) via MavLink on PC?

I would like to simulate a flight mission on Mission Planner. Mission Planner has an option to open X-Plane using Mavlink, however I cannot find any information for opening X-plane 10 Steam Edition.

I would prefer to buy the Steam edition because of the free updates.

For questions regarding the capabilities of the Steam version, and compatibility with add ons, please check with Aerosoft on their forum or through contact information here.

However, if you were to buy the sim directly from X-Plane.com, you would also get all of the updates for free. You can even grab a copy of the free demo to see if it works with Mission Planner.
