I'm a simmer for many years and have tons on ad-ons for my sim.

I like Xplane a lot and have it for long time, but I stick by my other sims and use it very rare for two reasons:

When you use a HOTAS it's to difficult  to pan around with a mouse, I have only 2 hands so you miss a lot from the scenery and can not reposition in the cockpit or maneuver and look around when you need it

As long as this is not possible I can not use it with pleasure, I just wonder how others manage this, dot hey use their feet?

The other reason is VR. Once you fly around with an Oculus you never want a flat display again.

I understand that they give it a try but because it is written in open GL and not DX it will take a while.

It's a very promising sim but this are the bottlenecks for me.

Will there ever be a solution for this? I mean make it possible to use a hat switch to pan around?

We have been looking at ways to improve the function of hat switches in the future. I believe you can set them up with each direction of the hat switch functioning as a button press in the Buttons: Adv tab of the joystick screen, but I agree it's not very easy or user-friendly.

I cannot speak to the future of VR for X-Plane. I know we invested heavily in Oculus development but it didn't pan out as it is now Windows-only and we are staying compatible with all three OSes.

Thanks for your fast reply.

Concerning the VR I understand completely, it was the fault from Oculus to change so many things and dropped support for applications and OS systems what they once started.
I understood from the developer from FlyInside FSX and PP3d  . that he is busy with X-plane, so we wait .....I'm sure he will come up with something.
That will definitely make X-plane my favorite  and is very good for you to.

Remains the problem with the pan function.
How are others doing it when they need 2 hands for the HOTAS?
Maybe its me,  but I loose control when I maneuver and have to look around, I read on the forums that we have to get use to it, but I can't.
I have the head switch programmed in a way that I can look in different directions but as soon as I look forward in the cockpit the situation is to low and I have to use my mouse "to go back in a normal seat position"   or adjust the radio's and so.

Anyway, it's a very good sim with an  enthusiastic community and complete different ( in a positive way) as the others.
