When trying to start the X-Plane 11 installer on openSUSE LEap 42.2, I get:

X Error of failed request:  BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)
Major opcode of failed request:  153 (GLX)
Minor opcode of failed request:  3 (X_GLXCreateContext)
  Value in failed request:  0x0
Serial number of failed request:  27
Current serial number in output stream:  28

Reason? Solution?

You have to use the nvidia drivers not Nouveau drivers. This error occurs on Ubuntu also if not using Nvidia drivers.

Good point: I haven't checked the 3D configuration since update. "glxinfo" brings the same error message. However I have the nvidia modules loaded. Xorg.0.log says:

[   789.359] (II) NVIDIA GLX Module  340.98  Mon Sep 19 17:22:44 PDT 2016

[   790.359] (II) NVIDIA(GPU-0): Found DRM driver nvidia-drm (20150116)
[   790.361] (II) NVIDIA(0): NVIDIA GPU GeForce 9500 GT (G96) at PCI:1:0:0 (GPU-0)

[   790.467] (II) NVIDIA(0): [DRI2] Setup complete

What should I check?

Try rebooting. Not promising but it can't hurt.

If this does not fix then try  re-installing opengl and nvidia drivers.

The solution was simple: After realizing that user "root" can do "glxinfo", I added group "video" to my user, and then "glxinfo" succeeded, and I'm currently downloading 8-)
