Lately I have been introduced to X-Plane 11 Global Platform. Now I am normally a person who thrives flight sims such as DCS Worlds, BMS Falcon, you know... the fighter jet sims. Of all the Jets my personal favorite is a FA/18 Hornet.  I have always favored Naval operations and had a interest in night trapping and so forth.

On that note one impressive module is that VRS FA/18 E Super Hornet. To be honest I love the Module but the Microsoft platform really turned me off. Then it was migrated to a Lockheed Martin Platform which was really a clone type version of FSX.  I never really had a drive or desire to fly civilian aircraft's until I discovered the quality within this X-Plane 11 Beta platform.  Yeah it crashes once in a while and sends a report to X-Plane. But for the most part it runs quite well and I have had no frame rate problems with everything pretty much maxed out.

I asked Kevin a question because he was kind enough to take the time to return my call regarding X-Plane 12 along with another question about Mr. Colimata's FA/18 F module.  My first answer from Kevin was that it took about 5 years to finish X-Plane 10 so he figured it might or could be a similar time frame for 11 to evolve to a finished product on to 12.

Regarding the module, Kevin said well... "that's up to the guy or people who made it"

So on that note my real question is...

1. Is it possible for a group to create something superb like some of the modules within DCS and VRS (not that the other planes here are not superb), but something where we can do something about the same as was made for what I feel is a lesser platform by way of today's technologies such as Microsoft compared to the objects and detail and graphics, haze and textures presented here in X-P11?  I am a bit under the impression that it is possible but of course I don't have a clue as how these modules are made other than the fact it is a labor of love and a mega load of work and time with little to no profit.

I tried to install Microsoft's FSX today. I simply uninstalled it as the platform is just simply to much trouble now and not worth the passwords of red tape just to get flying. I can't go back to Microsoft FSX after this program!   I wonder if anyone or group has considered making some real detailed fighter jets with accurate weapons and radars like on some of the other platforms. Honestly, I think it would get some attention. Look was was done for Microsoft and then look at this playing field.  X-Plane 11 and Beyond... ;p)

I'm not by any means trying to offend anyone. I still fly DCS and what ever I can get!  Whatever this ends up being it only seems like a winner!

Respectfully

Marc

Creating new aircraft to fly in X-Plane is certainly possible and many people or groups do it. It is quite time consuming, and since X-Plane 11 is so new there probably aren't any brand new third party aircraft for it. Some studios are probably in the process of updating models from X-Plane 10.

You may have luck finding some payware military planes by searching online for the specific ones you'd like. The X-Plane.org store (not affiliated with Laminar Research) has some, or other sites such as X-Aviation.
