Hello,

For some odd reason, my X Plane 11 installer keeps installing all game files on my desktop. I would like to change this so I don't have countless folders on my desktop. I cant seem to find how to change this... Help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Greg

I'm having the same issue. Update V11.31 has really messed things up for me. X-Plane installer thinks I have 2 instances installed now. It installs all files directly on my desktop and not in an X-Plane11 folder. I have no option to select file path. Terrible.

By default, X‑Plane will install to the Desktop. Though it can be installed elsewhere (by clicking the Change Destination button), it is strongly recommended that it be placed on the Desktop so that the folder can be found in the future, and so it has correct permission settings. Check destination folder with read/write permissions or move your X-Plane folder to another location. You can read more about installation of X-Plane here and about file and folder permissions here.

The change destinatiln button isnt there anymore after the first instalation, i need to help a friend who did some shit sith it and now i want to reinstall it correctly but it wont show change destination...I hope you can help me fast, because every free to play game has a better userinteraction then this how shoul a older person get such a curious interface when the user manual didnt even fit to it?

I'm in exactly the same boat, but considering no-one has responded to this in over a year I am not hopeful that a solution can be found.

if this only happens after xplane has been previously installed, where are the files or what are the registry keys, that are being read for xplane to know there has been a previous install?

if we can remove them, then we can do a fresh install and specify a different location

You can also manually clear your DRM cache by deleting the files X-Plane_drm.prf, X-Plane_install_10.txt, X-Plane_XDD.prf etc. in <drive:>\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\ folder.
