Has anybody created a 172 from the middle 70s?  My plane is a 172M (1975) while the plane in 11 is an SP which is rather more powered.  So, the transition from the simulator to the real thing is less than smooth.

Hi,

Have you tried X-plane.org free products, like this one for example :

http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/file/18884-x-ppl-cessna-172-v10/

Carenado did create a Cessna 172, they usually do a very good payware job but I have not tried theirs.

About the cockpit layout, there are so many possible differences that I would recommend you start looking for solutions to tweak it yourself. It is a very very long work though..

Maybe you can also modify parameters like engine power with the help of plane maker. You can find it in X-plane directory.

You can find plenty information here :
