In the first betas, there was a considerable "haze" factor - this reduced visibility and detail (increased FPS). In the add-on datarefeditor (Show Art Controls) there's a line "Fog/std_deviation_cutoff=n.nnnnnn"  - this could be adjusted to decrease the haze. The line is still there, but now the assigned value is locked. Is there a reason for this? Is there another setting somewhere to cut out the haze? (It is realized that this editor is not to be considered fixed itself.)

Thanks

That art control tunes the relationship between distance-based visibility and exponential fog.  From our studies and discussions with real pilots, the relationship is -not- constant ... thus the sim is writing to it per frame to modulate it based on current conditions.
