Trying to install free demo of X-Plane 11, screen inside of the installer window will turn totally black - solutions?

The installer that I downloaded from x-plane.com keeps turning completely black and locking itself, not letting me close without entering Task Manager. I'd like to finish installing - any tips?

AMD 8350, 4 GHz

Windows 10

8 GB RAM

It shouldn't be a problem with the computer, as it is the launcher, not the game, giving me problems. Any suggestions?

Attach a copy of the installer log.txt from the desktop for investigation.

I couldn't figure out how to upload a file, so I copied it here. This is all I could find called "log.txt"

This is the log from X-Plane, but it was enough to show me that you do not have an Intel GPU (there are known issues with the installer & the Intel 520 & 530 cards). Have you tried checking for a driver update for your graphics card? 

If that doesn't work, there should be a file called "X-Plane installer log.txt" on the desktop which is the log for the installer. If it freezes again, you can try getting a dump file:

  1. When X-Plane freezes or stops responding, note what the message is above the loading bar.
  2. Open the Task Manager. (Ctr + alt + delete will bring up a list with this option.)
  3. Find the X-Plane program in the list.
  4. Right click on it and pick the option to "create dump file"
  5. When it's done, the pop up will list the file location.
  6. Navigate to the file location in the file explorer window. (It's possible one of the folders in the file path will be hidden. Follow directions here to show hidden files, if needed.)
  7. Dump files are very large so you may need to compress & upload it to a service like Google Drive or Dropbox, then use the share link.
