X-Plane 10.42

MacBook Pro (15-inch, Late 2011)

OS X El Capitan

Version 10.11.1

Processor 2.5 GHz Intel Core i7

Memory 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3

Graphics AMD Radeon HD 6770M 1024 MB

I recently had to replace Disc 1 on X-Plane 10 with a new one. Originally it was XP  10.00, and they gave me 10.31r, so I updated that disk to 10.42. I then needed a new optical drive (disc drive) for my Mac, so I had that replaced. X-Plane has been running fine since then but until recently, after I load X-Plane, and it loads the last aircraft I was using, the Carenado V35, and I select a different aircraft, it crashes, every time I try. When I select a different airport it runs fine. It doesn't like the different aircraft though for some reason. Any idea why?

For some reason the crash report is not created in the X-Plane 10> Output> crash_report folder.

It's very likely that your third party plane uses SASL which has a known bug with X-Plane & the Mac OS 10.11. It's a crash in SASL when it tries to unload the plane for a new one. You can read more about it here.

The work around is:

  1. Launch X-Plane.
  2. Pick Quick Flight and enable “Show this window on every startup of X-Plane”.
  3. Quit X-Plane – it may crash since you are unloading a SASL aircraft.
  4. When you re-start X-Plane, pick the default Cessna and you will no longer be “stuck”.
