X-plane 11 and its installer both refuse to run - the window flickers, then stops working

Question

I have paid for the game and used it for about 50 hours with no issues. All of a sudden, it wouldn't launch and wasn't listed in the Programs and Features section of Windows 10. My system meets the minimum requirements. I've tried deleting the X-Plane 11 folder, and downloading a new version of the installer, but it still refuses to run. Help!

 

I need the sim to practise for my PPL!

Do you have any ideas what might have changed on your computer to cause this? Did you recently install a Windows update? If so, can you roll back?

Attach a copy of the installer log.txt.
