Hello everybody,

I ´ve done some trainig flights in the area of LMPA. When I´ ve landed, and go with the plane via the taxiway to the APRON area, there are a lot of planes where the landing gear is sticking in the ground. Is this a bug or a feature :-))?

Hi,

On the gateway, one can see that this airport was updated recently and the latest submission will probably be in X-plane 11.05 only, despite the fact that there is a green check on it. You can still try to download and install this latest update manually :

https://gateway.x-plane.com/scenery/page/LPMA

I will not be able to test it myself in the next week.

Hi amelingu,

thank´s for this Information. I´have installed this scenery update and  I can find it in the custom scenery folder. The scenery_packs.ini has been updated as well.

If you start the flight at LPMA the APRON scenery has not been changed.

I renamed the subfolder +30-020 and make an additional copy of the original subfolder. then I overwrite in this new subfolder the file +32-017.dsf.

After this operation, the planes at LPMA APRON are placed correctly on the ground. You can see also the runway, but the rest of the scenery is only water. After deleting the new subfolder and renaming the original subfolder, the old situation is as before.

In my opinion X-Plane 11 pick´s not up the custom sccenery of LPMA.

I am using the version 11.01r2 (build 110102 64-bit).

Best regards,

Horst K

Can you try again to install the update and rename the scenery pack as follows :
X-plane 11\Custom Scenery\Airport_LPMA\earth nav data\apt.dat
In other words, just rename scenery_pack_LPMA into Airport_LPMA and make sure the "earth nav data" folder comes right after this folder.
It's crazy but I have seen several cases when renaming such a custom scenery pack is required to enable its loading in XP11.
Once this is done, delete scenery_packs.ini (I hope all you other custom scenery packs are properly named) and launch X-plane.

You can check what X-plane is actually loading by going through X-plane11\ log.txt

Be careful when manipulating the dsf files. The on included in LPMA update contains only data to place objects, facades... at LPMA. It is a rather small file. It is different from the dsf found in "global scenery" folder, which contain mesh data.

I´ve renamed "scenery_pack_LPMA" to "Airport_LMPA". All following subfolders are in good conditions and the data files are in the correct position.

I´have compared the content with other subfolder in the subdirectory  "Custom Scenery". The scenery_packs.ini takes over "Airport_LMPA" after launching x-plane.

The result was, that still the old view of the LMPA Apron occurs.

Additional I renamed the subfolder "Airport_LMPA" to "Airport.ini" as You described in Your comment, that gives also no better result.

Again I´ve renamed  the last changed subfolder "Airport.ini" to "Airport - LMPA", again no better result. In every case the file "scenery_packs.ini" was updated with the new name.

In this special case it seems, that the additional DSF File from the LMPA-update will not be used by x-plane 11.

For example my additional custom scenery (Aerosoft - EDLP Paderborn-Lippstadt) which was delivered with the DVD-Version of x-plane 11 by aerosoft works properly.

Hmm.. I will be able to test all that in about a week. I do not really understand why you would rename a folder into "scenery_packs.ini" which is a file typography.  the scenery_packs.ini file is just to be deleted so that it can be created again by X-plane, next time you launch it. I'm sorry if my suggestions were not clear..

Sorry, I think there is a misunderstanding. I have not renamed the file "scenery_packs.ini".

I followed only Your description to rename the folder "scenery_pack_LPMA" into "Airport_LMPA" and I´ve seen that the content in the file "scenery_packs.ini" takes over the new folder name automaticly. But there are no changes in the scenery of LMPA after launching x-plane 11.

I will check the file "log.txt".

Hi,

I just tried LPMA.

Indeed, I have noticed no visible improvement with the manual install from the gateway. It would be interesting to play with the boundary and the "always flatten" option in WED, because the main problem comes from the mesh. I am not sure we can do miracles with WED though, but I would recommend that you install this version instead. Haven't tried it yet on X-plane11 :

Hi Guillaume,

many thanks for this informations. I ´ve just tested the situation after installing all of this new scenery files, which are released only for X-Plane 10 at the moment.

The surround scenery and the apron looks very nice, the planes are well positioned.

Unfortunately the RWY north of the taxiway has not the same altitude. In this case You can´t use it. If You Approach via 05, it is possible, with full reverse and full brakes, to stop just before this scenery challenge and access the northern taxiway. At the moment I have no paxes on board :-))), just only training flights. I´ve added two screenshots.

All best regards,

Horst

Haha. Maybe it's better to have the default version :D

Do not hesitate to contact XPFR for this, I will give it a try when I can.

Are you training as an airline pilot?

I ´ve pointed a comment at X-Plane.org.

to Your question, no I am just fly with simulators for my own fun. But as a former C-VFR Pilot, who was trained by a professional instructor. I am still very interesting of navigation, ILS approaches and challanges at airfields like LPMA, Kai Tak, St. Maarten. using B747 (FSX) or B737-800 (XPlane 11).

It it's true LPMA is an interesting approach! I'll send a link to this topic via XPFR website too, they will receive it faster I think.

Ok, so i got an answer from the authors of this scenery : LPMA apt.dat is not loaded in your case. That has to do with folders alphabetic order in the "custom scenery" folder. It is due to the fact that "global airports" is now placed inside"custom scenery" folder.
So I suggest you follow these 3 steps :
-make sure you deleted the LPMA you downloaded from the gateway
-Rename the XPFR LPMA into Airport_LPMA
-delete "Scenery packs.ini" that is inside the "custom scenery" folder

Then you can restart X-plane 11
If you can confirm it works, I'll write something on X-plane.org

Good evening Guillaume,

great support, many thanks again. I´ve just run the test. All is working well now. Your informations is very good for my experiency with x-plane. The scenery is under my top ten now.

All best regards,

Horst

P. S. Look for EDVY, this area is good for flying with small planes
