Fix for Logitech Attack 3 joystick?

I'm trying to configure my joystick in XP 11, the main stick is labelled as "2" when viewed from the left in the configuration tab in settings, but becomes "1" when viewed from the right.  The throttle lever is "1" on the left and "2" on the right.  The assigned functions do not change, so when viewed from the left the stick controls pitch/roll and the lever throttle, but then when viewed from the right the stick now controls throttle and the lever roll.  Is there a fix for this.

The numbers in the window are independent of view. Even though the button or axis number might change between views, it does not change the setting. There is no way to override how X-Plane numbers the joystick controls. I would recommend setting it in whatever view is easiest for you and then trying to ignore it in the other view. :)
