Hello,

The minus button on the card does not reduce the zoom, which remains permanently at a large magnification.

By default, the first time you open the map in an X-Plane session, it will be zoomed out all the way so you can't go out any further with the minus button. I couldn't reproduce any issue using it after zooming in a bit however.
