I don't think we have any specific guidelines for this case. I have a copy of the X-Plane 9 demo and I was able to start it and fly a bit on OS 10.12.5, so I would guess it would work with anything in between.
Updating the OS may start to consume more system resources so there could be issues with loading times or frame rates if your computer is overloaded simply due to OS demands.
