I have an older HP Pavillion Notebook with a Radeon HD 6700M video card. I'm running Windows-10. I've downloaded the X-Plane demo to test if it works.

The Log.txt file is reporting that the graphics card is an Intel HD 3000 (presumably the integrated video card). How can I get Windows to select the Radeon? Both drivers are in the Device Manager, but I can't seem to effectively disable the Intel.

I believe the failure happened after a recent Windows Update, but I can't be sure.

TIA,

Paolo

Hi Paolo,

Can you go to your Nvidia config panel, make sure X-plane 11 is in the list of programs and if not, add it, as shown on the screenshot below (Sorry it's in French)?

Guillaume

Thanks, Guillaume,  It's a Radeon, but I understand the process.  I think there's a similar app for the Radeon.

Indeed, you said it. Sorry.

No problem, Guillaume!  I found the AMD Catalyst app and set up X-Plane, but there was no difference in behaviour.  Log.txt still reports the Intel HD 3000.

I think Windows is overriding the settings (or mappings) in the app. In other words, Windows diverts the message before the RADEON gets it.

And what if you delete X-plane 11\ Outut\Preferences folder?

Maybe you could also try and run the X-plane installer one more time,  so that every file can be checked and replaced if needed.

I remember there was a similar thread on this forum, quite recently, but I couldn't find it.

I found the related thread, but I don't think it will help much. The answers are from 2 Laminar Research employees :

Thanks, Guillaume,  I'm at work now (in Oz), so I'll try your suggestions when I get home.

Removed the ...\Output\Preferences folder, but no change...

I see.. I'm short of ideas at the moment. You might be luckier if you look for solutions on Google..

All the best with that!
