Good Afternoon, we are students of CINVESTAV (Mexico) and we are trying to simulate a VTOL aircraft in plane maker with a professional license and  we’d like to know if it is possible to submit the engine’s lateral cyclic movement and how to achieve the engine works like a rotor even if it is horizontal. (By the way we are trying to simulate a rotormast V22) The plane works as follows:

In helicopter mode:

  • Roll is accomplished with differential Collective Pitch of both swash plates
  • Pitch is accomplished with For/Aft tilt of both swash plates
  • Yaw is accomplished with differential For/Aft tilt of both swash plates
  • Vertical control is accomplished with symmetric Collective Pitch change of both swash plates

In plane mode:

  • Aileron is accomplished with differential For/Aft cyclic of swashplate
  • Elevator is accomplished with For/Aft tilt of both swash plates
  • Rudder is accomplished with differential Collective Pitch of both swash plates
  • Speed control is accomplished with symmetric Collective Pitch change of both swash plates

But we are having some troubles when the vectorial thrust is horizontal due to the engine is configurated as a rotor (like a helicopter) and our aircraft has no control surfaces, so the only way to control it is by using the rotor, so we tried to use the option “main rotor” to achieve the movements above mentioned but it doesn’t work as we’d like.

Is it anyway to make the rotor works as we wish?
