How do you Squawk for ATC using the G1000 flying the Cirrus Jet?

There is no clear explanation on how to use the G1000 suite for the Cirrus Jet. After filing a flight plan with ATC, the PIC cannot squawk the request from ATC in the transponder. How can you access the transponder to comply with ATC's request?
