I've looked through various configuration setting in the menus, but can't figure out why I can't get the mouse to work as a yoke when I plug rudder pedals in.

When you fly with just the mouse, X-Plane automatically adds some rudder in to help you control the aircraft on the ground. Once you add and configure rudder pedals, the sim expects you to use them to control yaw. You should still be able to use the mouse to fly for pitch and roll if you have no other devices configured to use those axes.

On the first 2 sentences, I understand that. And, yes, I SHOULD still be able to use the mouse to fly for pitch and roll if you have no other devices configured to use those axes. Nevertheless, the issues remains.

I've continued the search for different settings to get mouse-as-yoke and rudder pedals both functioning simultaneously, but no fix yet.

BTW, I have no interest in using any auto-rudder option.

I appreciate any solution.

I could not reproduce any issue with the mouse. I configured rudder pedals only, started a runway approach with the C172 and was able to control pitch and roll with the mouse. Please check for other devices or factors affecting this on your machine.
