So a 2016 Mac mini with these specs can run X-Plane, but how badly will the Intel Iris Graphics hurt the performance and graphics?

  • 3.0GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i7 (Turbo Boost up to 3.5GHz)
  • 16GB 1600MHz LPDDR3 SDRAM
  • 256GB PCIe-based Flash Storage
  • Intel Iris Graphics

Hi Stephen,

First up, try the X-plane 10 demo to test your system's strength.

http://www.x-plane.com/downloads/x-plane_10_demo/

That is the first thing to do

Minimum System Requirements

  • Dual Core, 2.5 GHz or faster
  • 4 GB of RAM
  • A video card with at least 1 GB of VRAM.

Recommended System Requirements

  • a Quad Core, 3.0 GHz or faster processor,
  • 16-20 GB of RAM,
  • a high-performance, DirectX 11-capable video card with at least 4 GB of on-board, dedicated VRAM.
Since it is an Intel graphics card, you won't get good performance UNLESS your rendering settings are really low!

My Specs

MSI Z-87 G-41 MOBO
Nvidia GTX 970 4 gb VRAM
16 gb RAM
I7 4770k @ 3.5 ghz

Let me know if you need more help

Thanks Rishi. We don't own that Mac mini yet so I can't test it. I was just wondering if anyone had a similar setup and could say for sure that the Intel Iris Graphics is enough of a weak link to make XPlane look like crap.

Oh, alright then

Did i help you at least?

Yeah, thanks again. But if you happen to see XPlane run in a similar setup with the Intel Iris Graphics, let me know!
