Hi there,

I read through some of the Q&A but don't find the correct answer to my question:

I have X-plane 10. It's the 8 DVD pack which doesn't have a code on it. It can be installed without code as it just asks me if I want to Agree the EULA.

Now I want to install it on a new gaming laptop which has no DVD-drive.

1. How can I do this? (Download an ISO, but where do I get the activation code from then?)

2. Can I upgrade to version 11, or immediately download and active 11 with my 10-code - which I don't know where to find?) having bought the 10 not that long ago?

Thanks for your support!

Jan from Belgium.

There is no product key available for the disc version. To run X-Plane 10 you have to insert disc 1.

There should be no problems with a new computer. You can download or copy the content of X-Plane folder to a new computer. You can use the same product key for your personal computers. You will need to purchase another license if you run X-Plane on multiple computers at the same time.

There is no upgrade to X-Plane 11. You can buy X-Plane 11 Digital Download here. When you purchase the digital download edition, you will receive an email confirmation with your product key. This key will allow you to download, install, and use X-Plane 11 without needing any other products.

Hi Jan,

I am not with Laminar Research; just a flight simmer.

Others have asked the same question in this forum.  I can't find the answer(s) provided.  You may need to do some serious searching using the "No dvd" tab created when asking this question.

You may need to consider an external DVD drive connected via a USB cable to be able to run disc 1 for either XP10 or XP11.  You cannot download an ISO disc.  You have to create an ISO DVD using freeware software found through Dr Google.  All the ISO DVD does is act as a substitute for the preservation of the original source DVD and will need to be inserted into the DVD drive.

XP11 and XP10 are totally different packages and cannot or will not mix and match.

Good luck.
