I think this is a wider issue than graphics or cpu. Even with all the sliders set to the minimum, the short pause even occurs on the menu screens and also in flight. However, the onscreen data output for FPS is consistently above 25 but still pauses every second or so.
removing all custom scenery and plugins and deleting prefs file and installing update from the installer, yields no results.
