Can I start X-Plane with no disc?

Question

I have purchased a 10-DVD version of X-Plane 10.
I have replaced my desktop with a laptop and have no CD-DVD Rom.
I have managed to install X-Plane with an external USB DVD Player but I would like to start playing with no DVD.
Is it possible at all? Can I have a serial/code instead?

No, I know mine will only last a short timein Demo mode without CD 1.

I have also purchased the boxed Global version of X-plane 10 and do not run the program with DVD-1.

I trust your laptop has a number of USB slots.  Give consideration to the following http://www.x-plane.com/store/desktop/x-plane_10_home-use_usb_key/  It works well.
