Hi,

a friend of mine has successfully installed the last version of x-plane 11 in a new computer... a Dell Alienware with this configuration:

DELL ALIENWARE AREA-51 THREADRIPPER EDITION R6

AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1950X 16-Core 3,4 Ghz 8192 cache L2

32 gb ram dual channel

nvidia geforce GTX 1060 6gb

but every time he run x-plane game, after a few minutes it show a message saying that the configuration is not compatible and then it crash.

its configuration is well above the minimum and recommended requirements.

Can you tell me how to use a high quality configuration? which obviously works well for this type of computer

Best,

Luca

Hi Luca

I'm not with Laminar Research, just a fellow simmer in the UK, but it would be useful if you could upload the X-Plane 11 Log.txt file to this Q&A post, for everyone to assess and try to understand what is happening to cause the reported crash?

The owner of the PC will have to do this as the Log.txt file is on his/her PC.

The PC specification looks fine, so it is unlikely to be a hardware issue, unless it is something to do with the monitor/s and screen resolution?

Hi Luca,

Like Greengolfer I am not from Laminar Research; just a flight simmer living down under.

What is the capacity of the power supply for the PC.  You need to check the requirements for the graphics card and then add some.

My research tells me the GTX 1060 has a 120W power demand with a recommended power supply of at least 400W.

On the basis you will add other bits and pieces you should consider an absolute minimum of 500w supply.  An ideal situation would be 700w giving you plenty of grunt for added extras.

The business found at https://xforcepc.com/english/flight-simulation/flight-simulation-computers/platinum-html.html builds PCs predominantly for X-Plane and recommends a 700w supply for their GTX 1060 GPU.  As a side issue XForce PC is the recommended PC supplier for X-Plane PCs within the USA

Cheers

Glenn
