It is possible that I do not fully understand how to utilize the software but today I did a flight from SFO to SMF.  The weather was, per real radar, instrument conditions.  Weather in simulation was set to grab real data every 15 minutes.  From the start, ATC had me take off in a direct cross wind for which there is clearly a more optimum runway at SFO and then it had me do a visual approach to SMF which was in dense fog and it even showed an airplane coming right at me when it put me on final approach.  To top it off, I had a tail wind on final.

Am I supposed to file a different kind of flight plan for instruments or should the simulation tool provide the appropriate directions for the prevailing scenario?

I fully am aware that I might not be totally aware.

If the tool was supposed to react to the prevailing scenario well, it did a less than adequate job at this.

I realize that lots of AI might be required to deal effectively with all possible scenarios.

Thanks.

If you still have the metar file(s), you could retry with 124thATC plugin for ATC to see whether it makes a difference.
