I am not with Laminar Research; just a flight simmer from down under.
I am not a VR user but I have seen a number of Laminar Research newsletters indicating the Occulus Rift and a newer unit (just released) will or should work out of the box. I am not aware of the other units you mention. Later versions of X-Plane now allows you to connect direct to the PC whereas when XP11 was originally released you needed a plugin software program to use the VR unit.
Te following link may be of some help on deciding on your unit and can found at https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/forums/forum/380-vr-in-x-plane-11/
Also have a look at the following links from Michael Brown found at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDtT6Req3s0 and also at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=83qefCV-P4U In the first link Michael mentions his earlier video. I am of the opinion that the following link is that video found at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sMGbZkLIY4w If there are comments below the video then read them. I ven't but I'm sure you will get some good or bad info for you to consider.
Michael runs a business in the USA that builds PCs for all types of use. He specialises in flight simulation units predominantly for X-Plane.. Laminar Research recommends his business as the preferred supplier in the USA.
Have a look at the following link and the comments below found at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QDV9e8fOSIw Until responding to your question I have no knowledge of this "blogger"

In summary the unit that is of general choice is the latest model of the Occulus Rift.
Good luck with your choice.
