Help!! I very foolishly tried to alter the "aircraft_ system  pss autosave" file without first making a backup. What was he thinking I hear you cry!  Looking at the other files in that folder being "aircraft_explosions " it appeared that the pss file was the same as the pss autosave file so in the "aircraft_system" section I deleted the autosave file and copied and pasted the pss file to it. Needless to say my particle effects, mainly engine exhaust heat blurr aren't right. They appear with some aircraft and not others, some reheats work and others don't, some that do work don't appear on replays some do. As I have a zillion addons I'm very reluctant to do a clean install, is there any way I can recover the original "aircraft_system pss autosave" file? I'm fairly thick skinned so I can handle any derisory comments.     Appreciate any help.

Hi golfer 13

I'm not with Laminar Research, just a fellow simmer in the UK and it is unlikely that you will be able to recover the aircraft_system.pss autosave file from LR, without doing a clean install, which clearly you're somewhat reluctant to do for obvious reasons.

I'm running X-Plane 11.34 and when I look in the C:\X-Plane 11\Resources\effects folder, I cannot see the file mentioned, all I have is the aircraft_system.pss file, not one with autosave?

What version of X-Plane 11 are you running and where is the aircraft_system.pss autosave file located?

Hi Greengolfer15, Thanks for your reply.I'm running the latest version being 11.35.The files that i refer to are in the same folder as yours . In my case it's E:\X-Plane 11\Resources\effects folder. I don't know how to include them in this post to show you but maybe I could send them to you in a standard e-mail and we could compare. My normal e-mail address is tonybarr22"hotmail.com.I don't know if the files are generated based on aircraft installed or as a generic format. You could let me know privately what you think, if that's ok.

Thanks again

Tony (golfer13).
