I just bought X-Plane 11 off of steam and when I play X-Plane I have an intermittent frame rate drop or freeze if you will every 2-3 seconds.  Immediately after the frames return to normal.  This is a fresh vanilla install off of Steam, I have updated video drivers and windows.  I've lowered the graphics and changed the resolution from 1440p to 1080p. My CPU utilization is approximately 33% on average with no spikes after loading the scenario, with GPU at around 34% @ 1080p.

System Specs are I7 8700k, 32Gb of ram, with a 1080TI.  X-plane is loaded on an SSD and this is the only game/sim that this is occurring on.  The most similar demanding titles that I can think of that I have currently installed are DCS World or Arma 3 with the draw range increased.

Does anyone have any similar experiences or know of possible troubleshooting to identify the issue.

Thanks

HI Kgillers3,

I am not from Laminar Research; just a flight simmer from downunder..

Sad to hear you have a problem but you are in the wrong forum for your version of X-Plane.  Read the following.

  • There are two versions of X-Plane.  One version is steam and the other from Laminar Research.
  • Because you are not using the Laminar Research version of X-Plane you are in the wrong forum.  You need to ask your question in a forum specifically for your version.
  • I do not use or support your version
  • This forum is for the true official, genuine and original version of X-Plane developed by Laminar Research.  Your version is a 3rd party modified or hybrid version that is taking a commercial advantage of the development work carried out by Laminar Research.
  • There is no business connection between Laminar and your version.
  • Your version installs differently to the Laminar version and only makes a final release version available to its users days after Laminar releases or updates to a newer version.  Laminar makes beta versions available for public testing before an official release is made.  I understand your version does not make beta versions available.
  • The Laminar version of X-Plane does not mix and match with your version ie you can't use your version and try and download a beta version from Laminar.  Just does not work.
  • If anyone tries to purchase your version from Laminar Research they are directed away from their site as they do not sell it.

You may find assistance on the X-Plane.org forum.  This forum has no association with Laminar Research which is found at X-Plane.com  Also try the steam home page.
