Clouds are awfull when looking up or down

Question

Hello,

I have had that problem before installing all over again X-Plane 11. My clouds look really weird when I look up with a specific angle, and same when I look down. Here is a picture of what they look like: https://prnt.sc/pj200p .
These are the original clouds which came with X-Plane 11.
Because of these small problems, I almost don't want to fly on my simulator...
If someone could help me with these clouds it would be really helpful.

Hi talghe

I'm not with Laminar Research, just a fellow simmer in the UK.

I have looked through your XP11 Log.txt file and noted that you have the following addon FlyWithLua scripts:-

1. G:\Program Files/X-Plane 11/Resources/plugins/FlyWithLua/Scripts/X-Visibility.lua

2. G:\Program Files/X-Plane 11/Resources/plugins/FlyWithLua/Scripts/shadows_fix.lua

3. G:\Program Files/X-Plane 11/Resources/plugins/FlyWithLua/Scripts/CloudArt.lua

Personally I do not have these particular scripts installed in my copy of XP11 and have never experienced the type of problem that you have, in all of the time I have been using XP11.

I would therefore suggest that these files are temporary moved from the G:\Program Files/X-Plane 11/Resources/plugins/FlyWithLua/Scripts folder and saved somewhere else for the time being.

Then try opening XP11 once again to see if you have the same issue?

If not, then load each script back in one at a time, to see if you can identify which is causing the problem?

Like Greengolfer15 I am not from Laminar Research; just a flight simmer from down under.  Follow his advice.

I have also looked at your log.txt file and noticed how you have installed X-Plane.

You have installed the software within a windows operating directory  "Program Files".  Earlier advice in this forum and the user manual from Laminar Research advises that if you do then expect problems.  There are a number of YouTube videos advising how to install X-Plane.  It should be loaded into a standalone directory for best results. 

X-Plane is unlike other flight sim packages  that mix into the system files.  As you can see in the file directory of your PC all of the X-Plane files are contained in the one directory 

In your situation you have it loaded X-Plane into a separate "G" drive. Quite acceptable but seriously consider changing the location to one of the following:-

G:\ X-Plane 11\......   or   G:\desktop\X-Plane 11\.....  or   G:\ user name\desktop\X-Plane 11\...... or finally as G:\user name\X-Plane 11\.......    Seriously consider either reloading X-Plane or copy the X-Plane directory in total to a new remade/or created directory.
