Hi there,

Since I got my GTX 970 in Feburary, I've been having issues with XP. To sum it up, all the drivers with my card don't seem to work well with XP. I even tried upgrading my OS to Windows 10 and the problem still occurs.

Message I've been getting:

"A TDR has been detected. The application must close"

"Nvidia Display driver stopped responding and has successfully recovered"

"Unable to recover from Kernal exception. The application must close"

These messages occur within 30 mins to 1 hr while playing XP.

Does anyone have a 970 and have Windows 10? What is the best driver?!

Specs:

Intel i7 4770 @3.5 ghz

MSI Z87-G41 mobo

Nvidia GTX 970 4 gb VRAM

16 gb RAM

650 watt PSU

I've also tried changing setting with Nvidia Control Panel but with no luck.

My XP experience is slowly getting ruined by these errors

Hi, I had a similar experience recently, replaced my 670 with a 970 and XP crashing my PC. In then end it turns out that the issue was caused by overheating because my PC was situated in a confined area under my desk as well as the fact that XP puts a lot of pressure on on the processor. Your processor probably came with software to monitor temperature etc., check the processor temperature when XP is running. Now that I am providing more air around my PC I'm getting about 76C which is pretty hot but not enough to close down the system.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

I had my CPU overheating cuz I had a stock Intel Cooler. I got a Hyper 212 Evo and that solved my overheating issue. That was 8 months ago. Last night I ran DDU and i wiped my drivers and installed 368.39 and I have to see if that worked. Do you get an error that says "Nvidia installer failed" how do u solve it? I can't even upgrade to the latest driver because of this error.

Thanks though,

-Rishi
