Hat switch on joystick to pan

Hello,

Can  I use the hat switch on my joystick to pan around? If so, how do I configure it? Just downloaded X-plane. I am a veteran FSX user and the controls in X-plane is completely different.

You'll need to set each direction of the hat switch to a different angle of the view. Here are instructions from the manual on how to do that.
