I purchased X-Plane 10 digitally and installed it. The first time I started it up it took almost 6 hours just to get to the X-Systems screen, then it did nothing. I have activity on my cpu and it shows up on my task manager, but It shouldn't take this long should it? I still can't get to the simulator itself. It's still starting up.

X-Plane can take a long time to load, but if it takes longer than a few minutes, it is probably getting hung. We've heard reports of this on Windows with 10.50.

If this happens:

  1. When X-Plane freezes or stops responding, note what the message is above the loading bar.
  2. Open the Task Manager. (Ctr + alt + delete will bring up a list with this option.)
  3. Find the X-Plane program in the list.
  4. Right click on it and pick the option to "create dump file"
  5. When it's done, the pop up will list the file location.
  6. Navigate to the file location in the file explorer window. (It's possible one of the folders in the file path will be hidden. Follow directions here to show hidden files, if needed.)
  7. Compress the dump file and send it to us on the bug reporter.

Dump files are very large so you may need to upload it to a service like Google Drive or Dropbox, then use the share link.

Please also include a copy of the log.txt from the main X-Plane folder. You should be able to run and quit Airfoil Maker to get a complete log.

If you send the results through the bug reporter, we'll try to use the dump file to look at the issue further. We're trying to collect as much information as possible on it because so far we haven't found an issue in X-Plane (it's been graphics and plugins issues so far). All the reports have been with nVidia cards so we may have to contact them as well.
