Hello,

I've recently installed and tried out the new XP 11 beta.  I'm quite impressed, but I have a small issue I'm trying to figure out how to resolve.  I fly from a local airport in my area, which is a rather rural/agricultural area (not a common area that has had a lot of time in development).  As I fly around my local area, there is a small hill in the middle of a mountain valley with which I am very familiar.  However, X-Plane depicts this hill as having very steep/sharp cliffs with a small lake embedded near the top of the hill.  I know these characteristics to be completely inaccurate (the hill does not have steep cliffs nor does it have a lake of any kind).

So, I started out on a quest to figure out if there is a relatively easy way for me to modify the underlying base mesh to correct this discrepancy.  I've looked over a number of articles on the developer site and performed other internet searches, but have not came across any tools or methods for modifying the mesh.  The closest I've encountered is the MeshTool.  But this tool looks like it only takes raw data and generates the dsf mesh files.

My question is, is there a tool that would allow me to load an existing dsf mesh file, make changes to the elevation and land class data, and save the dsf file?  Or is there some process using a number of tools that would allow this?  I've started looking at the details of dsf files in consideration of creating my own tool (I'm a professional software developer by trade), but I'm looking for the quickest way I might effect these changes.

Thanks,

I've never tried working with base dsf files myself, but my understanding is that it is probably a fairly complicated process. I would recommend that you wait until X-Plane 11 is final though before working on any changes as there will be at least one more scenery update which could potentially fix the issue.
