I was trying to skip the active waypoint and fly direct to the next waypoint, however it won't let me. It will let me replace future waypoints however. Not good when you're trying to fly in severe weather and there's a thunderstorm over your active waypoint and it won't let you skip it as you try to go around it!

It might depend on how you're trying to edit it. For example, on a real Collins or Smith FMS, if you are trying to jump the waypoint sequence, that must be done on the DIR INTC page, not the LEGS page.

For more specifics on how to use the FMS, check out the pdf Manual included with the appropriate aircraft, such as the 737.
