Firstly, I bought x-plane 11 on steam. It required 91 GB of space while my PC only had 45 GB. Now, I am thinking of installing X-plane 11 on a hard drive so I don't have to free up large amounts of space on the PC

It should work. In general the only places you should not install X-Plane are in Program files or in the C: drive root folder.

Yes this will work.  I bought a second ssd for xp11 and run it as a B: drive.

I keep a shortcut on my C: drive desktop and the log gives me an error but it works fine.

Good luck!

I think you can make steam move the install folder. I don't know if it would work if you manually it move.
