cannot get ATC screen or file flight plan for xplane 11

Question

I have followed manual and the step by step tutorial, but cannot get ATC screen to appear or flight plan to display.

I select plane and airport, then click enter to display ATC screen, and a long thin grey strip appears on top of screen.

I can type into this but nothing else

I am using xplane 11.01r2

I purchased from Steam- verified on steam and repaired 1 file-

Re-start and all good, but exit game, re-start 1 hour later and same problem no access to ATC screen-

Does this only happen on steam edition or needing a new update???

The long gray bar is what comes up when multiplayer is enabled. Please go to settings > Networking and use the reset networking configuration to turn it all off. Now ATC should work like normal again.
