Bought xplane 11 through steam. Install process goes smoothly but in loading it to play, after it reaches near the end of the loading sequence, at the point it says "done with pre-loading" it simply crashes and then windows says its not responding. It has done this 7 or 8 times without ever getting past this point.
My PC is far from new but I'm pretty sure its above the minimum levels, albeit perhaps not by much in terms of the graphics card in particular. I attach the log.txt file in case that helps.
Grateful for any help as to where I might be going wrong.
Your graphics card is above minimum requirements but below recommended specs. Please try turning down all rendering settings to minimum to see if that allows you to get flying. You can carefully turn them up following instructions here if that works. If the automatic crash reporter window comes up, please be sure to fill it out & send it.
Many thanks for coming back to me.
I'm afraid that I've never got as far as the home screen of the game and therefore turning down the graphics setting is (presumably) a stage further than I've been able to get! The attached 30 sec video clip shows that during the loading up procedure, it is simply crashing to a weird silhouette and then the xplane not responding box from windows comes up.
Again, any advice would be really appreciated - thanks
I assume the auto crash report is not coming up if you see the Windows "stopped responding box." X-Plane can take an unusually long time to load on slower computers, but it may be getting hung. Please try:
So the video you attached actually shows a flight partially loading. You should have seen the main menu before then, unless in the past you got to the main menu and turned it off in the settings.
You can try resetting your preferences to default:
The last (nuclear) option would be to delete the install & try a new one.
