At the very least you will want a joystick. (Not a control-pad like on an Xbox or PlayStation, an actual joystick). I have heard people using a mouse to fly but I have never taken the time to get that down. A joystick will add a lot more control and immersion as well. Honestly, if you are just wanting to have fun, get yourself a $20 joystick from Walmart/Costco, or whatever department store is near you. But playing with a mouse is completely plausible and people here do it all the time. I guess I'm just not as skilled as a mouse samurai :-)
