Hi,

My Sidewinder Joystick calibrates perfectly in pitch and roll, but on throttle, the blue bar only moves from the left hand edge to about halfway up the scale. The system says "accept", which i have done, but within the demo mode neither the throttle control on the joystick, nor the F2 button make any difference to the throttle on the plane.

I have just downloaded the demo prior to purchasing the product, but I obviously need to sort out this problem before buying.

Can anyone help please

Thanks,  Mel

Hi,

Mel again - just tried to calibrate the joystick under windows 10 calibration setup, and i have the same problem - so it is nothing to do with Flight-X - sorry to have bothered you all

If I can't get it sorted I'll buy another joystick

Hi Mel

I'm not with Laminar Research, just a fellow simmer in the UK.

As with any USB flight controller, it must only be calibrated within XP11's joystick settings page.

If you have installed any third party software drivers into Windows 10 for your Sidewinder joystick, please uninstall such immediately, restart your PC and calibrate within XP11 only.

Hope this helps, but any further questions, please let me know on this post?

Hi Greengolfer,

I have no additional third party software on my machine - I have recently changed the hard drive to SSD, and all the software has been re-instated.

Within XP11 I can only see the "let's calibrate your joystick", and when the movement on the Sidewinder only goes halfway across the bar, I can not see anything else I can do - the software accepts this and moves on. Am I missing something?

I realise that my Microsoft Sidewinder is now quite elderly and may be due a replacement, would you have any view on a budget joystick to get me back "in the groove2

Thanks,

Mel

Hi Mel

I have had a look in the C:\X-Plane 11\Resources\joystick configs folder and there is a configuration file for the Sidewinder joystick, so it should be OK in XP11.

Personally I use the Thrustmaster T-Flight HOTAS X and/or the Logitech Pro Flight Yoke/Rudder system, depending on which aircraft I'm flying at the time. Photos below.

Basically though, any USB flight controller should work, but a HOTAS version with separate throttle and stick might be best, such as the one I have. HOTAS = Hands On Throttle and Stick.

Hope this helps?

Hi Greengolfer,

Thanks for your help today - I must admit, knowing the age of the sidewinder, I had been looking at options, and the Thrustmaster T flight X had caught my eye.

I'll most likely find someone who does not know what to get me for Christmas and point them towards it.

Thanks once again for your help
