Having done a fresh reinstall of X Plane 11 I get no Video on start up just audio.

If I pull up the task manager video appears behind it, but goes off as soon as I close the task Manager.

I tried posting my log text but says too big

I'm not with Laminar Research, just a fellow simmer in the UK.

Trying to resolve the 'black screen' issue reported is going to be very difficult without more information, so let's start with some basic questions:-

1. Are you running a valid digital download of XP11, purchased directly from Laminar Research, as opposed to a copy from Steam or some other third party?

2. As you have seemingly 'reinstalled' a fresh copy of XP11, can I assume from this that you had a previous version of XP11 running without any problems?

3. The fact that the Log.txt file is 'too big' to post, would suggest that it is bloated with numerous messages, all saying the same or very similar things? Therefore, please open up the Log.txt file and scroll through it to see if there are in fact stacks of erroneous messages referring to the same thing?

4. Lastly, please confirm the specification of the PC/laptop that you have installed XP11 on?

1. Yes was originally purchased from Laminar, I used the installer on x

2. yes was only having a slight issue getting Avitab to work with the Zibo mod

4. Intel I7 6700k, GTX 1070, 16GB Ram, Windows 10

3. to be honest I haven't got a clue what any of the log means so I will paste in two parts

Hi there

I've had a look at your Log.txt file and quite honestly, everything looks quite normal right up to the last entry shown above. Was there anything else in the file after this, as it seems a strange place to stop recording data?

I can also see from your Log.txt file that your hardware is perfectly suited to XP11 in terms of CPU, GPU, RAM & operating system, so no issues with this.

QUESTION - When you initially open the XP11 application, you would normally be presented with the screen as shown in the first photo below. Can you see this screen, or do you only get a black screen even at this stage?

If you can see this screen, please could you click on the settings tab and then click on the Graphics tab, as shown in the second photo.

From there, please advise your settings for the following:-

1. Visual effects

2. Texture quality

3. Antialiasing

4. Draw shadows on scenery (check box)

5. No of world objects

6. Reflection detail

7. Draw parked aircraft (check box)

8. Monitor usage

9. Resolution

10. Default view

I have double checked the log and that is the last entry.

As for the opening screen I get the loading screen intermittently with the black screen. It then loads into the demo mode that I can hear running and see if I pull up the task manager.

I have tried clicking on the screen with the task manager up but it just reverts to the black screen.

I have also tried deleting all X plane files and doing a fresh install but get the same results.

If you have installed a completely fresh copy of X-Plane 11 and the very same problem still exists, then despite your PC spec, it could still be a hardware problem??

More questions/suggestions:-

1. Please check and make sure that you have the latest drivers for your GeForce GTX1070 graphics card. You may have to download the GeForce Experience software application in order to check for updates?

2. Go to the website, download a small piece of software designed to 'stress test' your PC. Run the test to see if there are any issues found with your PC's hardware? Test results will be found on the actual webpage itself for you to look through.

3. Please confirm the specification of your hard drive i.e. type and total capacity, plus also confirm the maximum power output of your power supply unit (PSU)?

4. Have you installed the completely standalone XP11 file structure to your PC's desktop (as recommended by LR) or onto your local hard drive i.e. C:\X-Plane 11? I gather from your Log.txt file that you have it installed on your desktop?

5. Try removing all plugins from your C:\X-Plane 11\Resources folder (cut and paste them somewhere else safe temporarily), to see if that makes any difference?
