My ATC does not seem to hear me!

Question

I'm on com 1, the volume switch is turned on, my system prefs say my input is my internal mic or my earbuds with mic, and ATC doesn't hear me when I repeat back their commands.....what am I doing wrong?

I have xplane on a mac, 10.5 version, latest version avail....

In X-Plane you need to click on the line in the ATC box that says "Readback Transmission". ATC will not respond if you are actually saying it into a mic instead.
