Hi jkf

I'm not with Laminar Research, just a fellow simmer in the UK.

1. All of the sound .WAV files for weather are in the C:\X-Plane 11\Resources\sounds\weather folder. In my 11.32 version of X-Plane, I have 10 .WAV files covering rain, hail, thunder, wind etc.

Are your files all present and correct as per the following photo?

2. If you have to run the X-Plane Installer app, double click the relevant file in the X-Plane 11 root directory and follow the instructions. You will find the X-Plane Installer app in the C:\X-Plane 11 folder, as per the second photo below.

Hope this helps for now :-)

thank yu Greengolfer,

I've updated via the installer but i still get the same result ! i am still unable to open x-plane.

most frustrating....

also, every time i try to update i'm told that 2mb will be updated; it would therefore appear that this 2mb must be the problem file i.e. resources\sounds\weather\.wav.

it would appear my x-plane 11.33 is not updating this file and because of this x-plane will not fly !

any suggestions ?????

Hi Jim

Could you please open File Explorer or File Manager (depending on whether you are operating Windows or MAC) and advise the following:-

1. Is the C:\X-Plane 11\Resources\sounds\weather folder present?

2. If the folder is there, does it have any .WAV files listed in it and if so, which ones?

The first photo in my previous post shows you what I am looking for!

Paul

Hello Paul,

I've got the exact same as you in the first picture apart from the fact on the right hand column after "contributing artists" instead of "type" it says "album". Below this column instead of "WAV file" against each weather type, nothing appears.

when in hit on wind/hail/hail impact i get the sounds loud and clear but the others tell me......

" the file can't play, the file is unsupported/ file extension is incorrect or the file is corrupt".

thanks for help

Hi Jim

Please don't be concerned about the column titles, this is just the way I have configured mine to find out what type the files actually are, which as you can, are all .WAV files.

Having said that, it would be useful if you could configure the relevant Windows/File Explorer page in the same way that I have, just to make sure that all of your weather sound files are also .WAV type?

1. Open Windows/File Explorer and navigate to the C:\X-Plane 11\Resources\sounds\weather folder

2. Left mouse click the 'View' tab in the top left corner and a View options window will appear

3. Then left mouse click the 'Add Columns' button top centre of window, after which a list of further tick box options will appear, as per the photo below

4. Un-tick all options, except the 'Type' option (If it's already ticked then leave it, if not ticked, then tick it)

5. Left click the mouse cursor somewhere else on page and then the tick box list will disappear

6. You should then see a page similar to the following photo with the file names and type. Just check to make sure that they are all .WAV files?

Please advise results in this post?

Hi Jim

It seems as though some of the sound .WAV files may be corrupt, so if you wish, I can email you the relevant files from my copy of X-Plane 11 to see if that fixes the problem?

Kind regards

Hi Jim

A little hasty in pulling the trigger I feel.

Firstly, it's never a good idea to introduce 2 updates or installations at the same time..
The url you give above is incomplete. there can be no wav file unnamed. ( .wav)
I have no such unnamed file in my copy, simply hail, rain, thunder and wind.
It is probable that UWXP is making this corrupt call. Try removing it and run the sim again.
If you havent re-run xp11 yet, then check the Log.txt in the xp root to see if there are any pointers.
This call is obviously unusual and just needs a little investigation.
I hope you check this out

Hello again

When I go into the installer log I notice the following data...

"D:\Users/James/Desktop/X-Plane 11/Resources/sounds/weather/hail.wav

 sig want=5ac57fa9f60e96e787469dd9a519dd0a

 Sig have=d41d8cd98f00b204e9800998ecf8427e"

This must be the problem.... how do I rectify this issue ?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Jim
