I do I know the radio frequency for a serten airport in vatsim?

I downloaded vatsim but now i ran into a big problem.  I don't know what frequency to put in.  I tried the frequency off the mini map but that didn't work.  So i looked up on the internet a list of frequencies for vatsim but there was no website that told you that.  I don't know if this will help but if you where wondering i am trying to fly in USA west.

Just as a example to show what's available, I clicked on Philadelphia KPHL airport and got all sorts of details on frequencies and charts. Please see photo below.

Thanks allot but i have one more question.  The reason i wanted to get the radio frequencies was of a problem that is still happening.  I will put in the frequency and then into active, then i go into xsquockbox and hit connect but all that happens is in this box on the top of the screen in red it says connect then it says disconnected.

If the “Connect” & “Disconnected” you’re referring to are from the VATSIM text dialog box within X-Plane’s screen, then it means you’re not successfully connected to a VATSIM server.  In which case, you have no communication link to speak of--it has nothing to do with frequencies.  Review the dialog text to see if it includes any message explaining why you’re being disconnected.  I assume you have entered your valid VATSIM login ID and password.

If it has something to do with the communication i think i know the answer to this problem.  I think it's because i didn't get audio for vatsim and the reason i don't have it is because i saw a mic setup in xsquockbox so i assumed i didn't need it.  If that isn't the problem then i will refer to your question asking what it said in the dialogue box well all it said is connect and then a second later it said disconnected nothing else.  You also said that the ID and password might be valid so i will check up on that as well.  thanks for you help Brenden

You do need Audio for VATSIM to talk on the radio.  But first, you’ll need to resolve the disconnection problem.  If I remember correctly, VATSIM does display a message on why it disconnects: e.g. invalid login password, particular server unavailable, unacceptable/duplicate aircraft call sign etc.  Hopefully, you can find a clue.

After you have obtained a stable connection, then…

  1) Install Audio for VATSIM.

  2) Find a location in the world where there is a current live ATC service available.  You can install VATSpy, for example to see where services are staffed.  Position your aircraft at a gate on one such airport.

  3) Find and tune the COM frequency for that ATC.  VATSpy also has info on that.

  4) Connect with Audio for VATSIM; and ask the ATC for a “radio check”.

thanks for all your help but i have one last question.  When i tried to download audio for vatsim my computer keeps on telling me all these warnings about audio for vatsim having viruses and so on is there a safe download that you used if there is please send one in the comments.  thanks again for all your help Brenden

You mean the “Unknown publisher” warning?  That’s okay as long as you’ve downloaded it from audio.vatsim.net.

no luck...

i did every thing that i needed to do to get audio for vatsim and it is still not working.  I retyped my ID and password and you were wright the ID was not correct.  But i think i know of some way to do this.  Here is my idea can you tell me what folder audio for vatsim goes in because i might not have it in the right folder.  Also we should check how i connect.  This is how i connect i put in the radio frequency and put it into act.  Then i do all the call sign and ID password exc.  Is that the correct way to do it?  And what is the folder that audio for vatsim goes in.  I feel we are close to the end of this difficult downloading prosses.

Audio for VATSIM is an application separate from X-Plane--it’s not a plug-in.  So it is installed into the “Program Files (x86)” folder (for Windows).

Are you able to connect to VATSIM without being disconnected?

still no luck...

I don't know what is going on or why it's not connecting.  I did what you told me to do.  I added the audio for vatsim folder to the program files (x86) and it is still doing the same connecting then disconnected thing.  I even went into vatspy to see what server had the most people on it it was taxes so i went to Huston and tried it there but there was no luck there as well.

You can try a different server via the drop-down menu, in the opening Connection dialog.  Other than that, I don’t know what else to tell you. 

Until you achieve a stable connection to VATSIM, audio is not the concern.

Okay I'll try that but i do understand that you might have nothing else to say.  If this doesn't work than i would also have nothing to say.  One thing i will also try is deleting audio for vatsim and xsquockbox and just downloading it all again.  Thanks allot for all your help with this.  I would have not made it this far if it wasn't for you guys.

I wonder if problem could be firewall related.  If using Windows, X-Plane should be allowed to communicate through its Defender firewall.

The firer wall thing worked with audio for vatsim but i found out that the connecting and disconnecting was created by xsquawkbox so i downloaded it again.  Back when we started to first talk about the connecting and disconnecting you asked if it said any reason why it disconnected.  When i downloaded it for the second time it changed what it said.  It says connecting then it says ERROR: invalid CID/password (6).  The only problem is that i just created my account last week so i don't understand why it's saying that.

I think this is the last question!  xsquawkbox works and audio for vatsim works but when i went to Houston international i requested a radio check 2 time with no response.  Is there something in xsquawkbox or audio for vatsim that i need to take care of in order to here things.  Or do i have to file a flight pan?

Well… Houston, we’ve got a problem!

When you were at Houston, was there an active ATC in the Texas area for you to talk with?  Have you used VATSpy to determine there was actually a live ATC at the time and tune your COM to its frequency?

Things to check for are: Is the frequency shown in Audio for VATSIM box correct?  Has the upper-left button turned to green “Disconnect”?  Does the TX indicator light up when you’re transmitting (when pushed to talk)?

Referring back to your list of things to check for this is what is correct and incorrect:

The frequency that is shown in the box is correct

The "disconnect" button does turn green

The TX indicator does not light up when i am transmitting

That's what is going on right now every thing is good besides that TX lighting up.  Maybe there is another mod or something for transmitting that i don't know about.

Have you selected a (joystick) button to be the Transmit button?  It’s in the Audio for VATSIM’s Settings, under PPT Settings.

well no i didn't i but what i did do is select the l key for the transmit button.  Maybe it has to be on my joystick.

something bad just happened it's all my bad!!  First of all i got vatspy and did all that stuff but it still doesn't work.  The problem is this on vatspy i saw a thing that looked like a IP address and i thought okay maybe i type that into xsquawckbox.  Then i thought okay if i type in the port number of the multiplayer section on xplane and i typed it into xsquawckbox.  But then it didn't connect but i don't know the port number that was there before.  But no luck with hearing any one or any one hearing me.

I have really good news!!!!  Vatsim is half working what i mean is i can see other planes flying around!!  The only bad news is that no one can hear me and i can't hear any one as well.  Oh yeah and i just downloaded xsquawckbox again so the hole port thing isn't an issue any more.  I fell like i am so close and i think i am right.

Double check the VATSIM ID and password are correct at the top of the Audio for VATSIM (AFV) dialog box.

Are the microphone and Output Devices set to appropriate sources?  E.g. are you using a headset?  Turn up their volume sliders.

The COM radio in your aircraft also has to be set accordingly.  E.g. stick with COM1 as a starter, select COM1 in the aircraft.

Use the Windows’ Sound Control Panel to check if your microphone (i.e., recording device) is actually functioning.

I left the “X-Plane IP Address” at its default (127.0.0.1), and it works for me.

If you locate your plane to an airport with an active ATIS broadcast, there’d be a continuously playing sound track for you to troubleshoot with (the listening part at least).

Well it still doesn't work.  Your idea was a good one but i checked those the first time it didn't work.  I think i am going to go ask for some help over at vatsim.  But other than that thanks for all your help on this and i wouldn't of made it this far with out your help.  If you have any other suggestions ideas or comments please let me know through the chat.
